When can students enroll in classroom instructions at Elite Driving Academy?

Students are eligible to enroll in classroom instruction if they are 15 years old or if their 15th birthday occurs by the conclusion of the class.

When can a student enroll in Behind the Wheel instruction?

Students are eligible to enroll in Behind the Wheel instruction once they have a valid instructional permit. If a student completed the classroom at their high school, they will need to provide proof of completion along with the Driver Education Approval form. Scheduling for Behind the Wheel instruction can be made by contacting our office by calling 309-319-8632 or by contacting us through the Contact link. Placement is based on availability and first come first serve basis.


When will students receive their instructional permit?

Students must be 15 years old and enrolled in Driver Education before they are eligible to receive their instructional permit. Students can get their permit application 30 days prior to the start of the class they are enrolled in if they are 15 years old at this point in time. If a student is not 15 until after the classroom starts they will receive their permit application the first day of class. In order to obtain an instructional permit, students are required to go to the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) to take the written and vision test. The following documents are required when students go to the DMV.

Instructional permit application - provided in class

Document proving Name and Date of Birth - Original birth certificate or passport

Document proving Residency – School transcript, bank statement, parent’s driver’s license

There is a $20 fee for the first instructional permit ($5 replacement fee for lost permit)

What are the student eligibility requirements in order to take driver education?

Each student must be enrolled in high school and receive a passing grade in at least eight courses during the previous two semesters prior to enrolling in a driver education course. If a student is a freshman, school districts may count passing grades from the last semester of the student’s eighth-grade school year. The Driver Education approval form will satisfy this requirement. 

Is Driver Education required for new drivers under age 18?

Yes. All students under the age of 18 must have successfully completed a driver education course to receive a license under the age of 18.

What are the benefits of taking Driver Education? 

Research shows teens that complete Driver Education are safer drivers. They learn the importance of be responsible behind the wheel of a vehicle. What will I need to bring with me when I go to get my driver’s license?

Student must have their permit for a minimum of 9 months prior to being eligible to get their driver's license. Student must accumulate at least 50 hour of practice driving (10 at night) with a supervised adult. The following documents must be taken to the DMV:

Certificate from the Secretary of State office showing completion of an approved Driver Education course

Instruction Permit
Driving Log (Showing at least 50 hours of practice with supervised adult)
Original birth certificate
Social Security Card
Proof of Residency
